Upper Extremity: Advanced Massage Course
The upper extremity advanced massage course provides you with a comprehensive understanding of the structure, function, palpation, assessment, and treatment of the soft tissues associated with the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. In addition, students are introduced to a broad spectrum of advanced massage applications, such as sports and lymphatic massage training, and learn to adapt their skills to meet the specific requirements of each discipline.
Our instructors offer a hands-on approach to aromatherapy, reflexology, and lymphatic massage training.
Topics covered in our upper extremity massage therapy course include:
- Lymphatic Massage: This technique is designed to remove waste from the tissue, and enhance function of the lymphatic system. Students learn the lymphatic massage technique through both lecture and hands-on examples.
- Sports Massage: Students learn to work in pre- and post-event settings as well as how to modify massage techniques specifically for athletes' bodies.
- Seated Massage: Also called chair massage, seated massage consists of a specially designed chair used at events, in corporate settings, malls, and airports as a quick de-stressing solution.
- Pathology: Students study the nature and cause of disease, which involves changes in structure and function.
- Spa Treatments: Instructors introduce the different treatment applications commonly used in the spa industry.
- Aromatherapy: Students learn how to incorporate the use of essential oils into massage treatments and spa services.
- Reflexology: In this lecture and hands-on class, students learn to treat points on the feet and hands that link to all areas of the body.
- Anatomy and Physiology: Students will be instructed in respiratory, digestive, excretory, endocrine, and reproductive systems.
